Sooryavanshi is an upcoming Indian Hindi-language action film directed by Rohit Shetty, written by Yunus Sajawal, Farhad Samji, Sanchit Bendre and Vidhi Ghodgadnkar based on an original story by Shetty, and produced by Shetty in association with Hiroo Yash Johar, Aruna Bhatia, Karan Johar and Apoorva Mehta under the Dharma Productions and Cape of Good Films banners. The fourth installment of Shetty's Cop Universe, it features Akshay Kumar as the titular character opposite Katrina Kaif.[1] Gulshan Grover, Abhimanyu Singh, Niharica Raizada, Jackie Shroff, Sikandar Kher, Nikitin Dheer, Vivan Bhatena and Javed Jaffrey star in supporting roles, while Ajay Devgn and Ranveer Singh reprise their roles of Singham and Simmba from the franchise's previous films.[2]

Kumar's character was announced towards the end of Simmba that served as a character introduction of Sooryavanshi.[3] He is playing DCP Veer Sooryavanshi, the chief of the Anti-Terrorism Squad. Principal photography began in May 2019 and completed in November 2019. Initially releasing on 24 March 2020, Sooryavanshi was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic in India. The film is scheduled for release on 2 April 2021.[4][5]
